The Mexico Network of Rainbow Catholics (REDCAM) is an organization designed to summon all of Mexico's LGBTI+ Catholic groups in order to achieve full religious and social integration through a renewed Catholic Church.
Nowadays, the Catholic LGBTI+ persons are witnessing the opening of new horizons for their lives of faith. We have experienced a God who addresses us without hesitation. A Savior who recognizes us as his creatures and who calls on us to go out to evangelize from our own identity. It has been a novel approach that we have welcomed with joy. He has his ways and his times and we, like Samuel, respond: "Speak, Lord, your servant is listening."
This is a new mission that is already producing abundant spiritual fruits; it is an ecclesial manifestation in which the presence of Christ is not only irrefutable but overwhelming.
It is also a true pastoral challenge for the Roman Catholic Church of the 21st Century. It is a transformation - personal, religious, ecclesiastical and social - that confirms the Christian vocation to "patient and kindhearted" love; one that "does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth." It is a task that is performed in unity and that builds bridges of understanding, prayer and hope.
The goal of the Mexico Network of Rainbow Catholics (REDCAM) is to summon the Roman Catholic Church in Mexico to lovingly embrace its many LGBTI+ members. It is also a challenging exhortation to the Church to actively take advantage of its presence and influence – as a privileged, human and divine institution – to help protect the human rights of all LGBTI+ Mexicans, regardless of their religious convictions or location within the country.
As a group that is fully faithful to the Roman Catholic Church, our vision demands the creation and expansion of a new and courageous Pastoral Work for Diversity by Catholic institutions. It is an exhortation to dialogue, mutual understanding and conversion.
